Future of the internet event in Bled, Slovenia
7 Febbraio 2008
Stakeholders will discuss ‘The future of the internet – perspectives emerging from R&D [research and development] in Europe’ from 31 March to 1 April in Bled, Slovenia.
The first day of the event will be a public open day, which will be followed by a two-day technical workshop.
The internet has undergone far-reaching and profound changes since its early days and has become a critical communications infrastructure underpinning economic performance and social welfare.
With an estimated 1.1 billion users worldwide today, the internet is poised to become a fully pervasive infrastructure providing connectivity anywhere, anytime. Due to the further deployment of
wireless technologies, the number of internet users is expected to jump to some four billion in a matter of few years. This event will seek to provide answers to the challenges arising from
emerging new technologies and societal issues related to the future internet.
