Construction output down by 0.6% in the euro area

In the construction sector, seasonally adjusted production fell by 0.6% in the euro area (EA13) and by 0.7% in the EU27 in December 2007 compared with the previous month. In November,
production decreased by 1.0% in the euro area and by 0.5% in the EU27.
Compared with December 2006, output in December 2007 declined by 3.3% in the euro area and by 4.0% in the EU27.
Compared with 2006, the average construction output for 2007 increased by 3.7% in the euro area and by 3.9% in the EU27.
These first estimates are released by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities.
