South Central SHA appoints Atos Consulting and Unipart Expert Practices Alliance
London, 7 November 2007 -South Central Strategic Health Authority (SCSHA) has selected an alliance, which includes Atos Consulting, the business consulting arm of Atos Origin, and
Unipart Expert Practices, to work with local NHS organisations to deliver reduced waiting times and a better experience for patients. This Transforming Care Programme represents just one of the
activities that the Strategic Health Authority (SHA) is undertaking in response to the Government’s 18 week standard from referral to treatment.
This work will ensure that the local NHS is able to sustain these improvements into the future making low waiting lists a reality for patients across South Central.
The alliance, which comprises Atos Consulting and Unipart Expert Practices, will be working in partnership with the SHA and the nine Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) in the region. The programme will
help remove unnecessary steps in the patient pathway, so that patients receive treatment in a timely manner within the most appropriate setting. The programme will focus on building the skills
and experience of the NHS across South Central so that they can continue to improve and evolve patient pathways locally.
Chris Evennett, Acting Chief Executive at South Central SHA said: “The NHS across South Central has made significant improvements over the past decade in reducing waiting times to an all time
low. We want to bring waiting times down even further which will mean in the future patients will wait no longer than 18 weeks from referral to treatment. This is a big step in making a real
difference to patients lives and we have appointed the Atos Consulting and Unipart Expert Practice alliance to ensure that we do this in the most cost effective and efficient way. This will be
achieved through the hard work and dedication of NHS staff and reforming the patient pathway by removing any unnecessary steps in the care patients receive.”
Through the Transforming Care Programme, South Central SHA is demonstrating a proven and pragmatic approach to meeting and maintaining waiting list standards,” said Sunil Patel, Partner at Atos
Consulting. “This new contract win further strengthens our position in health, a focus market for Atos Consulting where we are uniquely positioned, to lead improvements in the way care is
delivered. Our wealth of experience in managing collaborative consortiums will undoubtedly be of value.”
“The combination of skills and experience brought by Unipart and Atos in helping its clients in both the public and private sectors achieve transformational change through deploying a Lean
approach will provide the nine PCT’s within the South Central Region with the help it needs to achieve the Government’s 18 week milestone,” said Neil Smith of Unipart’s Expert Practices
